About Us

We are owner-handlers and show and train our own dogs for conformation and performance sports.  We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of American and active in the NorCal Golden Retriever Club as well.

Our goal is strong, healthy dogs with that great Golden Retriever temperament. Our dogs have all of their medical & genetic clearances and pre-breeding screenings, as health is our top concern. We obtain medical clearances for hips, elbows, heart and eyes at 24 months of age.  This is also a by-law of the GRCA.  You can find our OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certificate numbers under the profile of each dog as well as a link to their profile in K9Data.com.

When you buy a CaliGold Puppy you become a member of our extended dog family. We can help you with resources when it comes to training and health, as well as assist you when you need a dog-sitter.

Julie Scopazzi

I fell in love with Golden Retrievers when I was 10 years old as my friend had one and we would lay down on the floor next to Buddy and pet him for hours. I got my first golden as soon as I turned 18 and have had them ever since.  There is no other breed for me. I am relatively new to dog shows and dog performance sports. I have been showing since 2016. I do show my own dogs at AKC dog shows and my daughters are junior handlers as well.  We are active in the Golden Retriever Community and do our best to contribute time and energy when we can.

Susan Osborn

Susan has been active in AKC dog sports for several decades and is a very experienced breeder. She is nicknamed the “Puppy Doula” because of her extensive whelping experience and volunteer work helping other breeders.  She is also a dog trainer in puppy classes, obedience and scent work. Susan also enjoys her time in the field, training with her dogs.

Tim Avery

Tim is the strength and conditioning coach at CaliGold, as he handles walking and road-working the dogs to keep them in shape.  He also handles feeding and vet visits.  He’s the ‘sherpa’ behind the scenes that helps us load and unload for dog shows and keeps the team on the road.

Samantha Vivanco

Sam is an AKC Junior Handler and a great help in caring for our dogs.  She is currently teamed up with Doc in the show ring and they do a great job together.

Kyara Vivanco

Kyara is an AKC Junior Handler and also apprentices for a professional dog handler where she is learning how to groom as well as care for dogs.  During her apprenticeship she has gone into the ring with many breeds and is working on her handling skills as well. When Kyara is showing our dogs, she is teamed up with Korte.
